Madhuri Dixit not doing Suchitra Sen’s biopic

Even as there were reports of Madhuri Dixit, the  dance diva of Bollywood being approached to do the biopic of yesteryear’s veteran actress Suchitra Sen, the actress made it known that though she admires Suchitra Sen as a fascinating actress and that she loved her for her performance in ‘Aandhi’, ironically, she will not be able to it. Even people in the film fraternity asked her to go ahead and do the biopic, she was in no mood.

In fact, the 51-year-old actress is doing well in her second stint with Bollywood. While she made her Marathi debut with Bucket List last year, this year saw her turning into a producer with August 15 for Netflix. Now, Madhuri is set to surprise the audience with her performance in Kalank, which is set to release next week. The film will also mark the reunion of Sanjay Dutt and Madhuri Dixit Nene.

When asked about her forthcoming films, she frankly asserts, “As of now, there is just Kalank. I am reading scripts but have not said yes to anything. I am not getting roles of my choice. I always like to perform in roles that I like to perform. Also, I am not insecure.”

Madhuri’s professional and personal life, especially the way she has conducted herself in the industry has been very inspiring. Would she like to pen down her autobiography? “I have not given it a thought. It’s too early to say whether I will write an autobiography,” she says. And, what about joining politics? “I have already said no. I am not interested. If you want to join politics, you should have an interest as well as knowledge. If actresses are joining politics — why not? If they have the aptitude, they should do it,” she concludes.
