Youth gets killed after bar brawl turns ugly in Mira Road
Close on the heels following the murder of a 26 year old salesman after a brawl in the Royal Smoke Hookah Parlour, a 26-year-old man died after he was attacked with a shard of glass in a brawl at the Knight Bar in Mira Road. Although a murder case has been registered no arrests have been made so far..
According to police sources, the victim had returned to Mumbai three days ago from Banglore where he worked in a hotel.
A resident of Anupam Building in Dahisar East, Novesh Shetty and friends made a plan to hang out at the Knight bar in Mira Road on the Western Express Highway. It was after 12 am and they were waiting for Kartik to join them when they heard loud noises from outside. When they went out they saw Kartik in a heated argument with the accused identified as Sujit Mishra, and two others. Shetty allegedly tried to intervene, but Sujit pushed him away which irked Nikhil, who slapped Sujit.
The fight turned ugly when Sujit allegedly heckled Kartik who crashed into a window pane of an adjacent petrol pump.
Sujit then picked up a shard of the broken glass window and charged towards Nikhil who had slapped him. Shetty tried to stop him, and in the ruckus, his neck got slashed. A profusely bleeding Shetty died on the spot.
A case of murder has been registered and further investigations are in progress according to PI Suresh Khedekar of the Kashimira Police Station. No arrests have been made till now. Nikhil, who was also injured in the fight, has been admitted to a private hospital and his condition is said to be stable.
Hope the police will swing into action and take appropriate steps to put an end to such social menace and threat to law and order situation.
