TMC Chief and his guards batter auto driver, motorist
If the thrashing of DMC, Thane Sandeep Malvi by some hawkers for illegal encroachment wasn’t enough, and which incident raised hackles among the top civic officials, it was the turn of the Commissioner of TMC Sanjeev Jaiswal to resort to goondaism and hoolagism along with his guards who mercilessly battered an autorickshaw driver and youngster for illegal parking in “No Parking Zone”
The ugly turn of the incident went viral on video on whatsapp that clearly showed TMC Commissioner Sanjeev Jaiswal himself thrashing an auto driver, right in front of the police. His private bodyguards also took advantage of the situation and assaulted the driver black and blue. In another video that also went viral, the TMC chief is seen clutching the collar and neck of a youngster who declined to remove his personal vehicle from the no parking zone despite the commissioner’s request.
This comes just a day after deputy commissioner Sandeep Malvi was assaulted by a group of hawkers when he tried to take action against them. Malvi’s boss, the TM<C Commissioner, Sanjeev Jaiswal had visited the Gavdevi area, Station Road, Jambhuli Naka, and Talavpali and Shivaji Path and took action against both illegal hawkers and rickshaw drivers who parked their rickshaws illegally. During the anti-encroachment drive, over 20 illegal structures were also removed. Locals in Thane welcomed the action taken, as they face a lot of problems at the station area, which is overcrowded due to hawkers and illegal parking of rickshaws.
Bewilderingly when the DCP (Zone 1) Dr. D S Swami was asked as to whether any action would be initiated against the TMC chief for thrashing the auto driver and the young motorist, the answer was “No case registered yet but he is probing the matter seriously.
Commenting on Wednesday’s incident, in which Sandeep Malvi was assaulted, according to Inspector Chandrakant Jadhav of Naupada police station said, the culprit, Pravesh Jadhav, and four others, have been arrested on charges of obstructing and assaulting government servants and rioting. A few more people are likely to be arrested.
If the higher ups of in the Civic Body resort to such goondaism and hoolagism, then what about the lower strata of people in the civic bold? Will they not take advantage of this?
